RECAP 2007
Portland, Ontario - Adrian Loewen of Ottawa won the fourth International Big Rideau Lake Speed Skting Marathon, held in Portland on Saturday. Loewen has skated all previous editions of the 50 kilometre race and finished in the top 10 several times before, but this was his first win. Martine Charbonneau, one of CanadaÕs leading inline skating talents, won the race with the women ahead of two time champions Suzanne Dionne. The races on Big Rideau Lake were held under tough conditions, with a strong wind and snow during the 100 lap race. In total, more than 250 skated in all four races. The 5K event, held early in the morning attracted close to 80 skaters, many from the surrounding area. Over the day, skaters from Canada, the US, Australia, the Netherlands and Germany took part.

RECAP 2006

Portland, Ontario - Organizers estimated an attendance of 2,000 people over the course of two days. On Sunday, after the volunteer ice crew worked through the night to prepare the 1k oval on the shallow Portland Bay, the 5K race was delayed to 2 p.m. and the official 50K championship started at 11 a.m. Due to the efforts of the crew, the ice was in such good conditions that Rob Kramer, from Boston, Mass. broke the track record by approximately three minutes and improved it to 1:36:36.With the women, Suzanne Dionne from Chelsea, Que won for the second year in a row.

2005 international Big Rideau Lake Speed Skating Marathon HUGE success.
In front of record crowds (between 1,200 and 1,300 over the day) Barry Publow (Men/Overall from Aylmer, Que) and Suzanne Dionne (Women, Ottawa, Ont) became the winners of the second International Big Rideau Lake Speed Skating Marathon on Saturday.
