The three Portland Football Club (PFC) soccer teams are still waiting for their first goal of the season. "Hopefully one will fly in soon," said Scott Halladay who coaches the U13 girls.

The PFC girls lost against Belleville on Wednesday.

Last year Belleville won the Eastern Ontario shield in their division. The U13 girls play on a full sized field and most of the players also compete in the North Leeds Minor Soccer League Halladay and his team have mostly been focussing on the defensive end of the game in practice.

The girls have faced much older teams.

"We are playing against teams that have 12 and 13-year-old girls, and we have two girls who are eight, and two who are 10 on the team. Plus, a lot of the teams we have been playing against have been together for several years."

"I think we are doing great for what we have got and we are having fun. That is the main thing. The rest will fall into place I am sure," said Halladay.

The U11 boys lost against Belleville on Wednesday, theyÕll play this Wednesday on the road against the Cataraqui Clippers.

The U16 boys lost against Brockville. They are in Belleville on Thursday.
