Not often does a team from the Portland Football Club defeat any Kingston United squad in a head-to-head meet, but on Thursday that was the case.

The unbeaten U13 boys of coach Craig Lapierre travelled to the Limestone City and beat the established Kingston club 3-2. Nathan Rogers, Broden Hawkins and Hunter Lapierre scored for PFC.
The U11 PFC boys played at home Thursday against the Prince Edward Eagles.

PFC came out strong as Michael Anson took the ball up the right side of the field. Anson fired a shot from just outside of the penalty area and scored PFC’s opening goal. Anson’s goal was followed up with a marker from Ethan Seed.

Seed’s long ball surprised the Eagles goalie. Before the end of the first half, Dane Olesen passed a throw-in to Anson who scored his second of the night with a well-aimed shot in the left corner.
Dylan Carbino completed PFC scoring in the first half and later in the game, Anson was tripped in the box. Braiden Wing took the penalty shot and scored PFC's fifth and final goal.

PFC keeper Reid Caron played a stellar game. In the second half, the wind turned and the Eagles poured it on, but when the final whistle blew PFC won 5-3.

The Kingston United U18 boys defeated PFC 4-1 on Thursday. It was the PFC U18 boys’ first game of the season. Jordan Duncan scored for Portland.

Gabe Leggett and Troy Merriman assisted on Braiden Wings' two goals. However, despite the
boys' hard work, they lost 3-2.On Thursday, the boys return to play in Portland against Kingston United at 7 p.m.

“United did not lose a game since PFC defeated them in the season opening game, should be intense,” said U11 coach Shawn Merriman.

The U14 girls and the U18 boys got a buy for the first round. Shield Cup games are based on elimination, lose one game and you are out.
