Nathan Rogers scored three goals as the Portland Football Club’s U13 boys defeated the Prince Edward County Eagles 5-0 on Thursday.
Joseph Bresee and Broden Hawkins had the other two goals as the team of coach Craig Lapierre remains unbeaten. Last week, the U13 boys beat Cataraqui Clippers 5-1.
Rogers is now the top scorer on the U13 team with six markers ahead of Luke Kenney with five goals.
The PFC U14 girls played Kingston United on Monday in a 5-2 loss. Jen Crosby scored both goals for PFC. The team of coach Scott Halladay was shorthanded and had to call up three players from the U11 girls. Last week the U14 girls lost 5-3 to Quinte West with goals from Siobhan Bell (2) and Michelle Glover.
“We are scoring and we are close in each of the games we play. The season is going well so far,” said Halladay.
The U11 boys will host the Prince Edward County Eagles in Portland this Thursday. Kick off at Kin Park on Harlem Road will be at 7 p.m.
The oldest PFC team, the U18 boys have been awaiting their start of the season. Their start has been delayed due to cancellations and scheduling issues.
The U18 boys open their season on the road against Kingston United on Tuesday (June 17). On Sunday they play an away game against Belleville and on Tuesday (June 24) they are on the road against Brockville's St Lawrence United.

This Saturday all PFC teams will play games for the East Region Soccer League (ERSL) Shield. The Shield is a separate cup competition for all ERSL teams.
In its history, PFC has played two previous Shield games before, in 2006 and 2007. Both games were lost 1-0 by the U16 boys on the road. Never before did the team host any Shield games, but on Saturday, the U13 boys play at Kin Park at 11 a.m., the U11 girls at 1:30 p.m. and the U11 boys at 6:30 p.m. The U14 girls and the U18 boys got a buy for the first round. Shield Cup games are based on elimination, lose one game and you are out.
