The U18 boys of the Portland Football Club defeated Belleville 2-0 last week with goals from Nathan Teixeira and John Waenick. On Sunday, the boys of coach Ryan Gardiner lost a thriller 4-5 against the Cataraqui Clippers. The four PFC goals were scored by Jordan Duncan, Michael Dier, Tyler DeKroon and Teixeira.
On Saturday, the U13 boys of coach Craig Lapierre were eliminated from the East Region Soccer league Shield due to a heart breaking loss against Gloucester. PFC lost 3-4 with goals by Broden Hawkins, Michael Truelove and Jozef Olesen. It was only the second loss all season for the U13 boys. Earlier in the week they defeated Napanee 4-2 in league play with goals by Hunter Lapierre, Luke Kenney (2) and Hawkins.
PFC's U11 boys drove and drove and finally found South Fredericksburg for an away game on July 15. The field and nets were smaller than PFC was used to and Napanee took full advantage of the difference. Napanee scored first before Michael Anson took a pass from keeper Reid Caron to tie the game, but in the end the host scored twice more as PFC lost the game 3-1.
Aleisha Carty's goal almost gave the U11 girls of coach Anders Carson their first win of the season, but two goals by Kingston United spoiled the party in the 1-2 loss. It was Carty’s second goal of the year.
The U14 girls of coach Scott Halladay came off a euphoric 4-1 win last week to encounter a superior Belleville team on Monday. Belleville beat PFC 8-0.
Both girls teams also played in a friendly tournament in Carleton Place on the weekend. More than 50 regional teams took part in the tournament.

Players from the Ottawa Fury top women’s squad held a clinic at Kin Park on Harlem Road in Portland on Tuesday. Almost all players from four of the five Portland Football Club teams attended. The Fury finished first in the Northern Division of the USL W-League on the weekend with a 13-1-0 record and will play in the conference finals in Indianapolis against the Chicago Gaels this Friday.
