Canada Post is the new shirt sponsor for the Portland Football Club (PFC) and the new found financial contributor is not the only one showing interest in the club these days.

PFC head coach Anders Carson has also gained the attention of the professional soccer world. “The Ottawa Wizards have just endorsed us,” said Carson. “They will pay for all our uniforms,” he said.

“Making an alliance with the best team in Ontario is not a bad move at all,” said Carson.

Decode, the company that is making a documentary about the team’s trip, is also putting the spotlight on the team. On April 29 they’ll put on a big party in a down town Toronto sports bar promoting their documentary as well as the team.

In the mean time PFC is playing in-door soccer to get into shape for their most exciting season yet.

A friendly game against the Mangwa Football Club is already scheduled for the summer.

Mangwa, formed by players from Cameroon who live in Canada, is a familiar opponent. Both teams met in Portland in September of last year and Mangwa won 3-2.

“The team is hosting a go away party before taking off to Sweden, featuring a match up with the Cameroon team,” said Carson.

The big send off party will begin at Portland’s Kin Park at 10 a.m. on July 3. The Decode filming crew will be there.
